Effie May Crossing Not Passable October 14

Due to the storm overnight, Effie May Crossing has 100-feet long, two-feet deep, of debri (mostly plastic) that came down Smuggler’s Channel and has filled up part of the road leading from the river to the staging area. National Guard Flying over the Valley

The National Guard is flying helicopters over the valley. Residents say there are multiple low passes every day especially over the mesa tops near the border fence.

Border Patrol on Horseback in the Valley

Border patrol is riding multiple shifts in the Tijuana River Valley. They have patrolled for about six months and plan to continue indefinitely. Please say hello to our agents and their trusty mounts!

Border Field State Park Equestrian Parking NOT Open

CA State Parks have NOT opened the BFSP equestrian parking at the foot of the park on the beach. They are asking people trailering into the valley to park at the Central Beach Trail trailhead or at the BFSP gate. They will permanently remove the “No-Equestrian-Parking-Beyond-Here” sign at the old kiosk area (trail head for Central Beach Trail) when the heavy equipment

PVC Pipes Removed from Central Beach Trail

USFWS and State Parks have removed the four PVC pipes that crossed the Central Beach Trail near the wooden bridge; they have filled the crossing with earth.

Three Corners Crossing Repair

USFWS will repair the mud bog on the trail just north of Three Corners. USFWS says the trail should be repaired by the end of 2006.

September 9: Trails Maintenance & Pancake Breakfast

Partner–Please have breakfast with the other hands after we carve out a nice and purdy trail for our valley riders. We’ll meet at Hollister Ranger Station at 9 AM to begin the trails maintenance. We’ll clear the entry to Sherwood Forest. After working on the trails, we’ll mosey on back to Wigginton Ranch for a FREE pancake breakfast at 11 AM.  A
